For anyone looking to control an outlet switch with a remote (e.g. plugging in a lamp, air conditioner, etc.) this is a simple, perfect buy.

Doubles as a switch for other lights
Older homes seem to have a running theme of having light switches that are attached to an outlet instead of overhead lights. The GE mySelectSmart remote switch fixes that problem. It is simple, effective and it does not require any wireless internet connection to function. The design function of the actual outlet plug is big, but instead of bulging out it lays flat and flush leaving additional space from the other outlet for additional items to be plugged in. I have had no issues with the range of the remote, even when bringing the entire switch into another room. Chances are the best way of using this is to drill the remote into the wall like any other remote switch.

What I listed as a good thing also hinders its ability to be a great switch. The fact that this outlet could not be controlled via the internet or an app doesn’t bode well for this product. Other switches offer this for around the same amount of money.
Overall this switch is simple and does what it needs to do. If you can live without the wireless connection, this is a good cheap buy for $14.
