iPhone Xr vs iPhone SE
Updated: Jan 8
The iPhone XR is a great overall Apple Phone. But is it truly worth $200 more than the newer iPhone SE for a bigger screen and Face ID?

With the new releases such as the iPhone SE and the iPhone 11, the iPhone XR seems to be the forgotten device. It is the best of both worlds if you are looking for a lower end price point, alternate colors and the ability to use the Face ID feature. The ability to upgrade to the TrueDepth front camera and still not go anywhere towards the $999 price point has shown the steps that Apple has taken to make their devices more affordable to all people. After using the XR as my main device for a year, I would have to say there have been no complaints on my end. The XR is still faster than most smartphones that are on the market currently.
"A $200 dollar difference for a slower phone, FaceID and a bigger screen are ultimately what you are paying for at this point in time."
One of the drawbacks of going with the iPhone Xr instead of the SE is the slower chipset inside the device. Yes the functionality of the device is still great, but you could prolong having to update to a new device as the phone gets older. Also, the Xr is still priced a little too high now that the SE has come out. A $200 dollar difference for a slower phone, FaceID and a bigger screen are ultimately what you are paying for at this point in time. If you would like these features, then it just makes sense to purchase the iPhone 11 for $100 more. It has an updated chipset which is the same as the SE, better cameras as well as a better battery.
Overall the iPhone XR is a solid device. Right now though, it seems to be stuck at a price point that may detract people from buying it. If you’re not sold on always using the FaceID feature, then just go with the SE. Link to buy both the iPhone xr is here. the link to buy the iPhone SE is here.
